Haggis' example worked fine for me in Notepad; the characters show as little "L" shapes, just like the forum. Check your Notepad's font - mine's set to Lucida Console.

Wouldn't it be more logical to fix the problem after the problem occurs? I.e.: Install Roxio then tweak Windows to login automatically.
