Phreik Might Close Its Doors

They are having lack of funds...and they have been asking for donations for the past week or two...they were 196.00 short earlier today and the deadline is today for them to pay for the server.

It is a shame to see a chat server close yes but for the economy of chat i suppose it will be good as some of these users are bound to find service at other existing sites and therefore induce growth in each of these places. I can understand if members do not donate mostly because they may feel they wont really notice a difference, sure their chat would stay on, but they may feel the odds of something changing for them arent really there. the theme hasnt even changed since late 2005 when the green theme was adopted directly after the smooth sharkfin style orange theme, and before that the sharkfin style blue theme. there was steady change going on for a while then it seemed to stop and just be 'kept alive' One thing that is nice about phreik is that it has stayed away from all the ads, but as a free service people expect to see them most times anyways and affiliate marketting is a great way to generate at least a small income to help toward their upkeep. affiliate marketing is however only as affective as you make it of course. Good luck to everyone there and hopefully good things will come of this. If they do keep it going at least another month or more id suggest changing that theme up, and getting some marketable affiliates going.

Perhaps a merger of services/servers with another network might be what is necessary to keep it going. Online web use should be increasing as more and more people get unemployed. The economic turn around is why msn closed its doors, because more people went back to work, and spend less time in chatrooms

What ussually happens in situations like these is the staff that were held so near and dear, don't feel so near and dear anymore, so they form break off groups that join other servers, or even better start a new one. We see it happen all the time.

Been the CTO of phreik is got it responisabilities and one those is site backups which im now going commence in case site has to close down completely. This is in order to keep the site content saved to dvd etc for permant storage. Sorry if this money that required isnt in the Staff at phreik wont have any option but accept the site will be closed due that reason.. We have tried to prevent this by giving plenty of warnings all concern. As site we been going for pretty much 6 yrs and it sad to think that come down to a non payment that has prevent us continuing running of the network. This posting is here to give all members oppunitity to save phreik. By no means do staff or admin of site want to close the network but if we force to and doesnt look like we going have any option left shortly
