erm ok Iam just confussed as to who made this? you or the friend? if it was you ..well you have notting to ask! he asked for a protection system you made it and you offer it to others...simple case closed!

josh... it's not unheard of... i've been approached a couple of times after GD5 was released to have work done on servers, websites, and yes... even mIRC scripts. all of which i turned down.

speaking of it, i was chatting with that dude few mins ago and he actually offered me $50 in return of the add on, which i find too much for mSL.

You should take the money if your pal insists. lol But then you will have to ask your pal for the permission to release the script, since he or she'll have the ownership. And as stated, you've written this script voluntarily for your pal without monetary exchange involved, you do whatever you want with it. And don't be surprise people modify it, (in a bad sense, rip it) chances are they will. This is what happen with open sourced codes these days.

you are paying for a person's time.. People pay others all the time to do things that they themselves either can't or don't want to take the time to learn how or do. You can't look at it as paying for a mirc script but rather paying for x's time.

Well, pretty much like getting a paycheck from our jobs too. Yup, at the end of the day, it all depends on how you take on this subject.

Money aside, If a person you call pal is not trustworthy to you, a "written agreement" is perhaps necessary. But then again, the trust built upon you and your pal is merely superficial in a sense.

pretty much true, he got nothing on me "officialwise", but yeah I think he expects me not to release it since it was built on his request and also that it wouldn't be fair releasing something to ppl for free if someone had it paid for
