:lmaojump: good to be back ... iv a question I have an external hard drive that doesnt have an on/off switch but works with a usb cable ... is it wise to leave it plugged in all the time or best I unplug the usb cable as or when I need it ... as always thank you for any replies :D

just depends on how you use it.. if u use it a lot then i would just leave it plugged in. If you tend to move it a lot to different pc's / laptops then unplug it..

Get information about ircWx here

I have noticed most external drives have a sleep feature, other do not. When the drive is running you can feel it moving. If it doesn't ever sleep, unplug it. If it sleeps alot, then I don't see the harm in leaving it plugged in.

After all, it is a regular hard drive in an enclosure which can handle thousands of hours of use. I do still agree with err0r on the amount of usage justifying the connectivity.

Stupidity is a metric of success.

:lmaojump: Thanks for that I was worried that it might over heat or something but you fellas have put my mind at rest once again :D thank you for the replies :D
