mIRC won't connect

hooray, its my turn to ask for help....

okay.. mirc won't connect. it won't connect to any irc network. no socket i open will connect to any server, irc, html, ftp, pop3, smtp, anything. /socklist says the sockets are 'connecting' but they never connect. i have restarted, reinstalled, rebooted, copied, and all sorts of things... help?

vex , you dont need to open socks to join normal irc and ircd servers

/server [-mnsarpfoc] <server/groupname> [port] [password] [-i nick anick email name] [-jn #channel pass]

eg /server irc.testing.net 6667 mypassword

also could be that you have reached xps 10 connection limit

Vex, last night I started having trouble connecting to msnchat, again. However, I found that if I put %# in front of the room names instead of just # it connects just fine.

You might have a problem from a firewall, new installation, new hardware, changes in a program, stuff that might not be anywhere near related to mIRC.

Other than that and what Ozzy said, no clues here.

try a new mIRC, sometimes it the actual mirc.exe file itself that stuffs up. don't ask how i know why, but this is how i fixed several of GuarDDog's problems between 4.1 to 4.2
