Just letting you know that I talked with one of the MSN Chat Admins. I've asked them if MSN will do anything when using their webchat icons and images from webchat and/or layout in mIRC and putting it up for download. He said that they don't like it but MSN will not do anything about it.

Just thought I'd let you people who are worried about the copyright issue's.

I hope this was helpful,

err0r: 666 + 1337 = 2003 backwards is 3002 which is how many people ozzy has banned from tg
err0r: spooky

They cant do much about it cause mirc is used to connect to there servers and thus it comes under "fair use"

My code does NOT have bugs. It just develops random features.

Very true Ozzy. But still, I know I was one of those people afraid of getting sued by Microsnot (no, it's not a spelling mistake) for using their icons and images

Your better off to have a friend than to be all alone.. If you fail, Your friend can help you up.

I'm sure many people will know that they are from MSN, but theres no stopping you adding a little notice telling users of the script that the images are from MSN.

The very young do not always do as they are told

Firstly a MSN chat admin would have no say as to MSN's claim to copyrighted material. But that is really beside the point. It's more an issue of fair use when it comes to the possible copyright violation of using their icons. They would have an impossible time proving their case in that instance. Same with most icons on the net.

I wounder if they'd get pissed off at this????

meh.. I'm just saying that the Admin knows they would do nothing about it.. Knowing MSN, they probably look at it as an advertisment for their chat

You and me will all go down in history,

With a sad Statue of Liberty,

And a Generation that didn't agree.

haha as we all know looking for icon change so they will be more leiniant towards use of old images if they still copyright it which would be most likely.
