hey if you want free ircservers go to www.igntion-project.com or www.ircxpro.com - it's like a trail version on that sits I recommend the first one .

Utilize your knowledge and the tools around you it could benefit you in the future

those are only IRCx servers...anyone know where I can find a free IRCd server???

yea thats what im lookin for a free ircd server blink.gif

If you find out where please let me know too. Is not that I want to download one just want to get the information about how to set it up.

Thanks tongue.gif

You and me will all go down in history,

With a sad Statue of Liberty,

And a Generation that didn't agree.

Has anyone actually ever tried GOOGLE lol you will find lots their.

Uhm... I couldn't find IRCD At first either... but I found it when I was talking with some people from TechGear.. (I wasn't sure if it was err0r or who it was)

Anyway, its http://www.unrealircd.com I mean doh! tongue.gif Just download it, and then you have to create the server coding. Yes your computer will be hosting each connection that is made to the server... (It sucks up a lot of my internet connection) sad.gif

Anyway.. There is an example of coding the server included with the download. If you are a total n00b or just not want to spend the time making the coding yourself, just use the file thats in there tongue.gif

It is also good to get yourself an address to connect to from an IRC Client (Such as mIRC). Thanks to my dad, You can get one from http://www.dyndns.org It has lots of stuff there, lots of DNS Stuffs biggrin.gif

Hope this was a help as I don't know what else to give ya tongue.gif

ok

cool.gif You have to run the server off your pc , if you recieve over 300 users connecting to it , your computer will go slow! Ignition-Project is great stuff , hopefully i can put that on a server soon , anyway i got my 2nd server for SpikeHost.net........

Has anyone looked in dmoz.org?

http://www.dmoz.org/, search for IRC. Find the "Servers" section. Then go and party there. I've never seen a closed source IRCD, ever, so chances are any IRCD you find will be free (open source and free-as-in-beer go hand in hand, usually). In fact, the only two IRC* servers that I've seen that aren't free are IRCXpro, Exchange, and ConferenceRoom. Basically, Windows servers.

C@lum, thanks tongue.gif. If SVN would get up and running some time today, I'd get ready to release this puppy. It's really wanting to hurry up and get that way tongue.gif
