Firstly, you should make sure you have the latest, GuarDDog will tell you when it loads up.

Follow these steps to get into the chatrooms.

Adding A Passport:

1. In the menu along the top; Vincula Options > change vincula settings...

2. In the dialog, there are tabs along the top, select Passports

3. Then click the button Add.

4. Another dialog will appear, put in an entry name [something that is easy for you to recognise], email address that you want your bot to use, password for the email address, and nickname [optional, if not set, it uses' the email set by MSN from the profile or group nickname]

5. Then click OK, followed by a message in 1 of the windows saying "* Updating the "<entry name>" passport, please wait...", and if successful, it should then be followed with "* Passport info for "<entry name>" is now updated (x.xxx seconds)"

6. Now you can close all dialogs, however if you have not done so already, in the Vincula dialog, under the passport tab [which is what should be infront of you already], you should tick all 3 checkboxes in the passport options, and for "Automatically Update passport if older than ___ hours", for the edit box, put in 12. [reason for this is MSN change the passport cookies every 12 to 24 hours, Subinfo every 40 to 48 hours, and userrole every 12 to 24 hours]

For Subscription Chat:

1. You need to update passport information + SubscriberInfo first, so to do this, vincula options [from the menu] > Update Passport Information + SubscriberInfo...

2. It should say passport info + subinfo successfully updated or something similar, if it shows an error, that most likely means that you can't join subscription chat because the email account you gave it is not subscribed to MSN.

3. Then, Vincula Options [from menu] > view MSN Room List...

4. A dialog will appear, select the catagory that your chatroom is in.

5. A window will appear with MSN's room listing of that category will appear, select your room

6. A dialog may appear asking for a nickname, you can leave it blank and just click OK.

7. And it should join the room.

Alternatively, you could join do Vincula Options [from menu] > Join Room > Normal..., and enter in your room name there.

For Group Chat:

1. You should update the userrole for the group you are about to join. To get the group name, goto the home page of your group, [example: http://groups.msn.com/TechGear007NET/ ], and the group name is located after groups.msn.com/, so for this, the example, it would be TechGear007NET. Make sure you hold that in storage for now [meaning, use the copy tool].

2. To update the userrole, goto Vincula Options [menu], Update Passport Information + UserRole...

3. A dialog will appear infront of you, if you have not previously updated the group name, you should select the radio button, add group and update. The edit box next to that radio button and text will become active and then you paste [put] in the group name there. If you have updated it previously, make sure the radio button, Update group, is selected, and select the group from the drop down list. Then click the button "Update".

4. In 1 of the windows, you should see this "* Updating the "<entry name>" passport + UserRole for group "<group>", please wait...", and if it was successful, it should be followed by a message some what like this, "* UserRole for group "<group>" was retreived successfully for passport "<entry name>"." If that doesn't show, it would show an error, telling you why it could not have gotten the userrole, meaning that you cannot join that chatroom till you fixed up the complication.

5. Now, you are able to join the chatroom, goto Vincula Options [menu] > Join Room (Groups) > Normal...

6. In the little dialog infront of you, enter in the exact same group name you are keeping in storage, except, you need to include G_ at the front. So for the above example, it would be G_TechGear007NET

7. Then click OK, it should now be in the group chatroom.

After you have done this, you merly have to update the subinfo [if you want to join sub chat], every 40 hours or so, or userrole [for the group chatroom you want to join], and use the recent room list option.

Which is located at Vincula Options [menu] > Join Recent Room > <room>

To save you from needing to input or locate the room.

These steps should be adiquite enough to get into the chatroom you desire. If you have any more issues, please ask.

If you have followed every exact step above correctly, you will get into chatrooms pretty easily, if you decide to take shortcuts, don't come to me asking how come it's not working.

Mr.GateKeeper.... i use GuarDDog v. 4.4... first time connecting... and i did exactly what you say for joinng groups. But after i go to join (groups) normal i type in G_.......... (groupname) and nothing happens.. no error or anything... it just doesnt load into chat

hmmmmm i have no problem with GuarDDog4.4 lite, does heck of a job,try updating everything again ,then try to join ya group/room

I love Guard-Dog. It is by far the best script I have used to date. Its easy, effective, and very configurable. I am chomping at the bit for version 5. I been trying to tweak the kick list so that it says SH*T LISTED. I did however edit the FIND A FRIEND box to ROOM LOCK DOWN...with the +I code. So finding the kick list shouldnt be that hard. AGAIN keep up the good work with Guard-Dog. ITS SWEET!!!

Nope i tried it again.. and its still not working.. i update everything and go to type my group i want to join.. but it just doesnt do anything.. no error message or any message at all

crazy send me a message on MSN Messenger and i'll see if i can help you.

problem solved... it was just alittle mental error on my side.. but thanks GateKeeper for pointin me in the right direction!

I have successfully installed everything that I think I need to operate this program but I have a question! Can you join a chat room just to chat? In other words it is telling me that I am not a channel operator. Do I have to be a channel operator for this program to function? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

GuarDDog can be used just for chat. Just make sure you have updated your passport information + userrole/sub info. Also if it is telling you that you are not channel opperator, there is probably a protection that i must not have made host requirements, GD5 shouldn't have that issue.
