mIRC has encountered a problem ....

Hi all, I couldn't remember my last registration details so I've joined again just now.

I've had a 3 month break from Group chat trivia, and a few days ago I decided to open up again. I'm having a few difficulties but the main one is that most times I try to open the script, I get the message "mIRC has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience etc."

I have tried it with the latest mIRC and also just installed the new Vinculatg. After repeatedly trying, a few times it has stayed open and I've managed to load the new Vincula. It has updated my passport very nicely, however will not connect to the server to join my group room. ONE time about an hour ago, both Main & Group servers connected, but immediately mIRC closed down in error again.

How can I find out what's causing this to happen? It's like my computer doesn't like mIRC any more for some reason. (Also the little box in mIRC is flashing red telling me to register every time ... I had managed to get that to stop a long time ago but it's now back.

what script is it? and the only thing u have added was tg's vincula? i get that error alot if i mess up somthing in an mdx dialog

Hi tomas, it's mIRC, not the scripts (I use a Tats and a Hybrid). I tried it with just plain mIRC and same thing happened (closed with error).

I just went to open my scripts after a 3 month break and I couldn't. After that, I tried adding the new vincula and the updated mIRC but same thing. But originally I hadn't messed with anything.

I've now twice got it (the Tats with the Vinctg and latest mIRC) to stay open long enough so that both main & group servers connected, but then when I tried to connect to my room, the mIRC error had me close down again before I got in.

All I can think of is to delete cookies & TIFS and all the usual maintenance ... I've run my scans (virus, spyware etc). It's like there's maybe a program conflict happening so that mIRC isn't allowed to open? I dunno, I think what I'll do is start fresh with everything new ( (I just hate doing that and all the setting up stuff) unless anyone has another suggestion?

hey i had the smae problem i ended up just doing a scann found out i had a back door trogen it took me 4 days to get rid of it heres the link to a online scann that found it

Hi DragonMaster, thanks also for taking the time to reply. I know it's good practice to use several AV programs so I did do a HouseCall scan and it was clean.

It's frustrating, it should just work!! Lol.

Dunno much about Vincula anymore, but does it still use the regsvr command to reg. the ocx/cracked ocx files? Maybe your comps having an issue regging them when Vincula starts, missing the regsvr32.exe file will probably cause mIRC to crash out when trying to execute the regsvr command. Have you formatted/changed OS's since your break? eh well, there's my two cents, Lol. I'm useless. You sure your copy of mIRC hasn't expired?

The problem is that one of the installation files for mirc is corrupted. Uninstall mirc, and reinstall it. After that it should work just fine.

I'm almost there! Lol. Thanks to everyone (this forum and elsewhere) who made suggestion! I got new mIRC's and got rid of all the vinculas and I've ended up connecting with the nuclear connection ...... nothing about the vincula could be made to connect, so I'm quite happy with this ...

BUT ...

I am in my MSN group room with 2 scripts.

One is mIRC with nuclear connection and Tat's trivia .... no problems at all.

The other is mIRC with nuclear connection and I WANT my Hybrid in there too. I have loaded it in (I got the "successfully loaded" message) but it's not showing up at all.

Is the nuclear incompatible with Hybrid or is there something I can do to make it show up and work?

why so many scripts? Should be able to do all with just one script.

The Hybrid and the Tats don't work well together.

I've personalised my Hybrid and it took a lot of work and I like it. I don't like the trivia in it tho'; I prefer the Tats.

Ergo: 2 scripts. I don't know how else to explain my obvious eccentricities in this area. So .... does anyone know how I can get the Hybrid to work after it's loaded into the same mIRC as the NuClear connection?

Why don't you just get the trivia files from NuClear and put in Hybrid directory and Load it. I have lots diffrent files from diffrent scripts that I like loaded into one script
