Steps for using David's passport updater.

Some people seem to be confused on how to use it, so I will try to explain it better.

Using VinPPUpdater

1. Right click on your status screen and go to Vincula Main Menu.

2. Go to Select a passport to use and then click on the existing passport you would like.

3. If you are going to join a group, please do the following. /update -u [<passport> <group>]. This updates the passport - regcookie + userrole for given group. If not given, it will ask you for your group URL or group name. So. for example... /update -u x-fusion TECHGEAR007NET.

4. If you are going to join a subscribed chat, please do the following: /update -s [passport] : This updates the passport - cookies + regcookie + subscriberinfo. So, for example again.../update -s x-fusion

Please note, these are based off of self used instructions. I have tested these on people in the help room and on myself. If you have any problems or questions, post them here or go to the help room. All emails used in this post are factual and should not be added to your messenger.

basically all i can is that you don't use your email address unless that is the "Entry" that you gave it. When you add a passport, you give it an entry name. When you normally update, it says, Updating "Passport" passport, please wait...

When i enter my account, i make the entry name GateKeeper, and my email is [email protected] (not really that email, but yea you get the idea). So when you do /update, its the entry name (e.g. /update -s GateKeeper), not the email (unless you used the email as the passport entry name).

i've just uploaded to mIRC 6.17 and to VincPPUpdater with Vincula TG

i did what it was written on "ReadFirst" but it doesn't update UserRole.

i got this message :

[20:40:48] * Updating the "Robot" passport (Cookies + UserRole for group "Yeppa"), please wait...

[20:40:50] * Passport info (Cookies) for "Robot" is now updated (2 seconds)

[20:40:50] * Error: Failed to retreive UserRole for group "Yeppa" [Reason: unknown].

Any idea to fix it ?

Is Yeppa the name of the group?

OK, i have re-updated the file. The changes made which many people will be happy with.

 

1. It uses 3 types of Updating, all of which will be automatically chosen, depending on your computer's operating system (i chose the safest first, then the reliable then the dodgy way ).

2. It is opperational for ALL mIRC versions from 6.03 onwards.

3. It is not OS dependant, so you don't have problems if your on windows 98.

 

Basically, it has 3 types. 1st the $com method, which is most safest and reliable and wont crash mIRC. the second is the ssl method, which seems to crash mIRC every now and then (and also requires mIRC 6.17 to operate) and the their is a manual login to begin it. Where you are displayed with MSN login, and then it does the rest for you.

 

Hope this encourages more to use my updater!
