Nvm, i dont think this is the problem. Im trying to connect to groups but it wont let me. Basically the same as i said above.

I just loaded a fresh copy of GD5 and had the same problem, no update, closed down and restarted GD5 and still wouldnt update, i tried to connect to an existing MSN chat room anyway and it then updated ok and joined the room, then went and joined a Groups room too. When i restarted GD5 from then on it updates ok. I hope this helps.

I do not understand why so many people are having problems. All these problems mention, I havent seen.

Custom Computer

AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core 5200+

Asus M2N-SLI MOB

2GB DDR2 @ 800mhz

160GB Hard Drive

NVidia GeForce 8400GS 256

here here molson.

Please answer these questions so that i might be able to aid you.

1. What opperating system are you on?

2. Do you have a firewall at all on your connection?

3. Is this only a problem with GuarDDog? Or are other scripts playing up for you?

I know I am not Molson, but it seems for me that GD is the only one working.

I can't get mine to update ( or any other for that matter ), either e-mail is wrong, password is wrong, or both.

I have a firewall, and run on Windows XP

From what I have found from a few others that use a mIRC, it's MSN. Not the connections really. The changes made by MSN have all but made it impossible for those of us just learning this stuff to get things to work like they used too.

I have GD to help while I wait.

Happy Easter Everyone!

Later

stained, please make sure you have the latest files for GuarDDog. To do this, open GuarDDog, and under commands, select GuarD-Doctor. From there, goto updates, get updates. If there are any there, tick them all, and click "Get selected updated". Give it a bit, it will download all the updates for you. Then try and get your script to update your passport.

Gate Keeper, I didn't mean I can't get GD in. GD is working GREAT!!!!! I meant that GD seems to be the one giving users the least amount of issues. I appologize for the confusion.

I meant that the script I have been working on does not update.

I didn't mean to confuse anyone.

Win98SE

Always had a firewall, but have turned it off to test mIRC scripts in the past, it hasnt made any difference, i havent tried it with GD5 yet.

I have always had stability trouble with all mIRC scripts, some lasting longer than others but they always crash.

Before the MSN change i had no real problems with GD5 except when in the access list and that was fixed, so no GPFs , loaded fine and generally didnt crash or lockup.

Since the MSN change i now regularly get GPFs when GD5 is connecting or joining, but once in its great.

At the same time i also run Viper and the MSN changes havent effected it at all. YET

win98se i believe doesnt have the stuff to do ssl

which is needed for the updater

maybe gate can add an nhtmln updater for 98 users

My code does NOT have bugs. It just develops random features.

ewww windows 98.. Save your money and get xp:P

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 6.1.7600 (Ultimate)

Your better off to have a friend than to be all alone.. If you fail, Your friend can help you up.

You will also need to make sure you have the latest mirc version (6.17), because it will not work with previous versions. Click HERE to go to the mirc website, and get the latest version.

david helped me with this one, you have to go to manage your passports>choose it>groups>get my group list> and then join the group u want if u cant get it to update in groups.

the ssl support was already compensated for with GD5 already being on mIRC 6.17, and the update round having the dlls with it.

Reason that it hasn't effected viper is because viper uses the webbrowser tool and not sockets to get it's updates. If it does use sockets (which i don't think so) it already has/had built in ssl support.

But yea i did help smokey get GD5 into his room and it took about 3 minutes.

Scine the GD5 update.........no problems at all :pizza::cheers:<jammin>

Hiya all,

Ive been mix&matching, updating passports quite a bit over the last couple of days, and right now i cant get GD5 to update any way i try, the passports ive been using that i havent recently updated still connect fine, soooo the copy i have running ive turned auto-update off just in case, until im happy its not MSN.

you sure you're having problems st4?

I went and screwed up the connection to test out 2 things, the updater, and the sockrename problem. I had no problems with the updater, it detected that the cookies were out of date, and got them fine. And i think i resolved the sockrename error, but it has slowed the connection by like 1/10 of a second when you join a room. Arr well, atleast the error is fixed (i think).

you sure you're having problems st4?

Hiya TGK,

i deleted and remade the passport, still no go, then in a last ditch effort before deleting the lot and starting again, i deleted all the passports and remade one, and it worked :D WHOOO HOOO.

Thanks TGK
