Hi, I've been having a problem over the past week with my bot just resetting scores at random. I'm using GD 5 (great, btw), also, the !ping command is not working for any players. However if i type !ping within the bot , it responds.

It seems to be happening after i've downloaded the updates to guard dog. nothing else has changed. I'm wondering if anyone else has had problems with this, also wondering if you have any idea how it can be fixed.

Thanks for your time :)

Are u using tats trivia ...which version ??

Is it that just the !ping command is not working ?? or other commands are not working as well ??

try downloading the tat trivia's latest version.. go to options, then go to commands and edit them. Sometimes the commands are set to work only with op which means that only hosts can operate.. you can easily change it by changing the respond method to msg channel and the command limits to none. tell me if it helps. If not.. attach the trivia.ini file here, and i will edit it and send the same to you.

if your refering to an addon you placed in, i can not recommend anything as i haven't looked at the code. Reason there is currently not a trivia system in, is because i haven't had time to revise a version for GD5. I will see what i can do over the week or two, but i can't garentee anything as i have school and that to deal with.

Hello! I apologize for not giving a clearer description of the problem that I'm having.

I'm using Tat's trivia version 3.55, which I believe is the newest version, along with GuardDog v. 5.0.

When I go to trivia options, then commands, and look at the ping command, the command limits are "default", then under that Respond Method is also "default", then under that Default Respond Method, says MSG Channel.

The other commands such as !hof, !hofstreak, !hofwpm, !hoffast, !roundscores (commands that appear to be functioning properly) have the same settings in trivia options as described above (default, default, then MSG Channel). The !ping command is the only command for which the bot will not reply. :notworking:

What's interesting, to me anyway, is that when i type that command from within the bot? The bot does reply!

I have tried also, turning off internet worm protection within Norton Anti-Virus, thinking possibly it could be that, however, that didn't appear to be it.

I guess the scores resetting is a separate issue! I have NO CLUE on how to solve that one either! <wo0t>

I really do appreciate whatever suggestions you may have, and thanks to everyone who has taken time to reply :D

it would be the custom font colors enabled.

This is why i make addons or modify them, then upload them, to suite the current settings with DC. But to turn off custom font colors, goto DogCollar Connection [Main] > Setup Dialog, then under Room Options, look down the list for "show user colors" and untick it. The trivia should be opperational then.

Thank you for your quick reply!

I did exactly as you said, and still, no reply from the bot when a player types !ping. When I type ping within the bot, however the bot does show a reply.

I wanted to show you what i see from the bot when a user types it:

[09:21]  +Moon§ : !ping

[09:21]       > You have requested a ctcp from Moon§ (PING).

(then nothing further....it's as if the person hadn't typed !ping at all)

but......when I type the command from the bot? It responds to that, in the room:

[09:23]  .Cosmopolitan : !ping

[09:23]       > You have requested a ctcp from Cosmopolitan (PING).

[09:23]       > Cosmopolitan has requested a ctcp (PING).

[09:23]       > Cosmopolitan has ctcpreplied (Type: PING) (Returned: 1 sec(s)).

[09:23]  .Cosmopolitan : Cosmopolitan, your ping is 0.625 secs.

I will keep , show user colors off, however. I should say also, that this function has always worked in the past, even when i had user colors activated

Again, thank you for your quick reply. I appreciate whatever info you can think of :D

Hello again!

I just came across another interesting bit of info. It seems that my bot replies to webtv users. Not in the chatroom, and the reply does not show in chat, however it shows on their screens!!

Just thought I'd let you know in case it helps make sense of this.

Thanks!

Hey well i too have the same problem :lolwave: , didnt notice that while using it with GuardDog. But its just not working with Guard Dog, the !ping command works with other scripts.

you may have to use $dc.decode($nick) i ran into a similar problem and that fixed it.
