Microsoft fired its Chief Information Officer, Stuart Scott, the company confirmed on Tuesday.

Microsoft would not share details beyond saying that Scott was let go after an investigation for violation of company policies.

Until a replacement for Scott is found, Shahla Aly, a general manager, and Alain Crozier, a corporate vice president, will take over his responsibilities, Microsoft said.

Scott joined Microsoft in July 2005 after spending 17 years at General Electric, where he also served as CIO. At Microsoft, he reported to Kevin Turner, chief operating officer.

Scott was initially hired in a somewhat novel arrangement: He shared the role of CIO with Ron Markezich. However, Markezich has since dropped his CIO title and taken on the position of vice president of managed solutions at Microsoft.

That terrible man. Who wouldn't wanna do that?!

surely to God you can find something better to talk about than something about microsoft.

Uh, why? Seeing as how almost everyone that frequents or visits this site has a Microsoft operating system, program or utility. So, why talk about something else?
