why when i upload an animated avatar it doesnt move ? iv tried a few and no joy

It has to be in gif format. Gif is the only format which accepts progressive images.

:oops: iv found better avatars than the one iv currently got .. they are gif but are 98 x 98 and like 37KB is that the reason there not working ? some advice on this one wouldnt go amiss and if you know where i can get some avatars from that are specified below vvvv please let me know

Your avatar must be no bigger than 90 pixels by 90 pixels in size. Uploaded avatars from your computer must be no larger than 50 KB.
The following file types are allowed: gif,jpg,jpeg,png

updated the limit to 98x98 also added a few more avatar packs.
