The words (or abbreviations) IE and good do not belong in the same sentence unless the sentence IE screws up your computer real good.
Yes. Next stupid question? ![]()
I don't get paid to know the answer, therefore I'm far more likely to give you a straight and honest answer.
Updates ( especially microsoft updates ) are put out for a reason. More often updates are released to fix problems rather than offer new features. You should keep your microsoft products updated.

i am an IE user, and the main reason is because i do not do much more than browse the web. I do have IE7Pro as an addon to IE which gives IE some of FF's capabilities, such as ad blocking. Ultimately, you should try IE, FF, and Opera for a couple of weeks each. See which you prefer and are happy with.
As much as people diss IE, it will do the job for the majority of people, and being that microsoft do release updates on a continual basis means that even as holes are found, they are patched. No product is without flaws or faults. Just because it hasn't been found yet, doesn't mean it isn't without them.
it just takes longer for IE's holes to get patched.

Nothing in this world is 100%, nor perfect.
All new IE updates seem to be focused on copying some of the alternative browsers tools and tricks - and while other browsers are focusing on performance and speed, IE seems to be getting worse ... more sluggish and bogged down than ever. IE is my last resort now ... i use Maxthon, firefox and even Slim Browser before i use IE7 ( off-topic: btw IE8 = utter waste of time)
if i'm not mistaken FF had more securety holes patched last year than IE.

all i can say is i've never had my system affected in a negative way using FF.. I have using IE.

Yeah most of Firefox's security holes are due to people being dumb lol

It uses the same rendering engine, so, your right.
I use Opera for the speed, stability and options other browsers don't offer. I will not use Firefox (although I do use K-Meleon from time to time, only when I have alot of stuff open) or IE because they don't offer what I want or need.
what does opera offer that other browsers don't ( apart from above mentioned speed and security )

Integrated search, a speed dial feature (which I use ALOT), integrated and sorted RSS feeds (which I use alot), an integrated IRC client, unique mouse gestures and the ability to block whatever I need blocked (certain JS and flash functions), not to mention a phishing and security filter that is leaps and bounds above the others.
Firefox:
x = Firefox feature o = Similar feature to Opera [x] Integrated Search [o] Speed Dial Feature [x] RSS Feeds [x] Integrated IRC Client [ ] Mouse Gestures [x] Blocked Content [x] Phishing Filter
not that I care of course lol... I use both browsers ![]()

I'll stick with Opera.

yes but you said those features aren't in other browsers.. they clearly are...
The speed dial feature is ok but i just have the links i use most often in my quick links tabs.
The browsers now pretty much have all the same features.. it's down to just which suits your needs better.. For me that's firefox. for you that's opera.. for others it's IE
anyone can use what they want but you shouldn't say other browsers don't have options that they clearly do.
There is really no option in firefox that i couldn't get using another browser. I just like the way firefox is set up. I'm familiar with all the ins and outs and it has never let me down. If opera didn't cost money or have those annoying ads for the unpaid version back when I left IE i could very well be an opera user. dems are da breaks.

When I used Firefox (for the short time that I used it), it hardly had any of that stuff when Opera had it versions before Firefox thought of it. Maybe it's just because I use Opera more frequently, or don't like Firefox as much. Who knows.
I like IE5 kthnx.
