Dragonchat - Something New!

got it working

So. I haven't made any updates in awhile and I thought I would explain what is going on.

I am currently in the process of writting a new textbox control to use as the chat window using WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation).

This will probably cause some issues for a few people since WPF is currently only supported on operating systems XP and above. Although, I have read rumors that you can get WPF support on Windows 2000 but I cannot be certain how reliable or stable it would be.

i just checked awstats for the following information..

users of techgear

Windows XP: 55.5%

Windows Vista: 34.5%

Windows 2000: 1.7%

Rest are around 0.1% a piece

So with that I would imagine the ratio of dragon chat users would be close to that ratio atm

I have started implementing the new textbox into the the client. I started testing on whisper windows first.

Heres a week of the main window. There is still some work to be done with it but I am hoping to be ready for another release by the weekend.

ever though of just doing one for basic irc?

maybe but i really prefer to code for a single server.

well am hoping to learn c# maybe i can change it for another server tewl lol

Hey tewl...

Dunno if I am doing something wrong, but every time I try to connect. it keeps telling me my channel name is correct... I have tried 10 different channels, all correct names, no spaces, and keeps telling me the channel is wrong...

are you using the %# in front of the name like %#tewlzbox

I was going to wait until I finished a few more of new options but what the heck. I felt like showing off what I've been focusing on.

The emoticons are not animated, this should change in future versions but for now be happy with this much!

Ok if you have downloaded it between the previous post and this one, please redownload DragonChat. A few issues were found and quickly fixed.

I will no longer be updating information about the client here. Instead I have opened a thread for it on my site which you can get the link in my signature here.

I have created an installer for the client as well as set it up to check each time it is opened for updates.
