 iv just had to put a new HDD in my machine and iv installed XP Home +SP2 iv got IE 6 do you think Im should upgrade to IE 7 or leave it with IE 6 ... nais tuke on any replies :D

You shouldn't... you NEED to. Your two versions behind, and your missing out on functionality and security.

upgrade to 7 but not sure about 8 as iv not had the option to downloaded it

The windows update should have prompted you to download the latest IE. Unless you declined it, I don't see the reason not to.

You shouldn't be using internet explorer. But if you do, yes you need to upgrade to ie7. ie6 is a major security risk.

Use Opera. www.opera.com/download

Even though I have IE8 installed, most of the time it's in retired mode. I use firefox 3.5 during my online hours.

Don't bother with Firefox - just stick to IE8 or use Opera :)

I don't get paid to know the answer, therefore I'm far more likely to give you a straight and honest answer.

Or Chrome or Safari.. :P

More and more tasks are being automated. If not for the default settings in windows, the net would be down. Click on 'Tools', 'Internet Options' and the tab 'Advanced' (don't scroll) there's an option to 'Automatically check for Internet Explorer Updates'. Check the box, if you want to. Managing IT systems will become more easier: m$ makes the os decide what kind of action has to be taken depending on feedback the system collects. Significant changes have been made on (inter)national level which regulates how ID information will be used. Together with m$ pressing on it's "geneva" project and the IE7 release, before next year m$ will be able to manage (!!!) your Digital ID. Together with Digital Rights Management and the current trend of government censorship, it will be a sight for sour eyes.

Every browser has its goods and bads, including firefox. No matter what browser you choose, it's your own responsibility to keep yourself safe from harm's way online.
