Hey all,

I need help with the new GuardDog4.0 Lite. I used the 3.6 version without any problems. I open the GuardDog and on the screen is the Mirc registration...I clik continue....none of the Option Tabs are showing at the top of the screen so I right click the taskbar and get the menus from there. Next I go to the Vincula settings and get the Options Dialog screen to come up....I enter my info correctly and the screen shows that it is updating...I also click on the Update and hit on Subscriber tab.....screen shows that it updates.

I go to the view MSN rooms tab....clik on category page that I want and a screen comes on but stays blank....never shows the Chat screen. Also when I try to go into another nic into Chat, I get 'guest_null'. I have added /msn.msnocx to the litte gatekeeper screen but nothing seems to happen?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really want to use the new GuardDog after hearing great things about it...Thanks in advance.

ok, for starters, you don't need to put in any menus or anything, they all appear via the GuarDDog Options, and Vincula Options. If the menu appears like a stip of line, which is really small, thats what the setup dialog that appeared when you first loaded GuarDDog was for. If you read the descriptions in it, it tells you how to operate things properly to make it so the menus appear correctly.

Secondly, when you add your passport, and update passport + subscriberinfo, then click view room, you need to resize that room alittle, reason for this is because of the new mIRC 6.16, it has problems with the previous NHTML used with it. So that is how you view the room list. After that, select the room you want, and it should join it. the guest null problem shouldn't occur, but if it does, close all msn related software, open up guarddog only, type /msn.resetocx wait about 30 seconds, close it, and then lanuch messenger, and try and join the room normally, once you get in, just lanuch guarddog and join the room. That should resolve the problem.

Dear GateKeeper,

Thank you for replying to my inquiry. I haven't tried it yet, but it sure makes sense. GBU and thank you for your heart with Jesus.

Dear Gatekeeper,

I followed your instructions and was able to get the Options Menu to come on at top of screen.....DUH tongue.gif. I followed this part to the letter:

I am able to get GuardDog into any room with the nic and no guest_null. Let me state right here also....WOW...what a great job you have done and all the Options are SUPER smile.gif. To continue...lol.....I try to open our room and get this: Network problems are preventing you from connecting to the chat service. Please try again later. So I go out and try to use this nic again in any room and it comes up Guest_null. I close down MSN...open up GuardDog only....type in /msn.resetocx (i've also tried /msn.msnocx doesn't work either)...wait for 30 secs....x out the bot....come back onto MSN...go into a room...still get Guest_null but the bot doesn't . I am on XP Home. I've even put this in the run command: Regsvr32 MSNchat45.ocx ....but still doesn't let me enter in any of my nics.

I pray you can help with this especially after I have gotten a glimpse of your new GuardDog......I want to use it so bad....lol.

Thanks for responding,

Ransomed

P.S...Do you have to register for Mirc 6.16? I noticed on GuardDog3.6, that I didn't have to.

from memory you don't need to, it shouldn't require to you register, but if it does, PM me and i'll help you out.

Try clearing history, clearing temp files and clearing cookies, i know you may want to keep them, but i am not really sure how to go about fixing it, i never run into the problem, well then again i never use MSN chat now, i just use GuarDDog to chat so yea, just try afew things out, and see if you can work it out.

Hmm, is your passport subscribed and are you getting all the details you need to connect? only other thing i can think is goto IE, Tools, Internet Options..., Settings, View Objects, and delete the MSNChat control and reinstall it

Thank you both for your replies to my inquiry. I went to delete my Chat Control in Internet Options and it is not there. When I had the 3.6 version of the bot, the Chat Control wasn't in the Internet Options either but I was able to use the bot plus all of my other nics in Chat. When I delete my cookies and go into a chat room (not with bot), the little chat control clown comes on , I clik him and go into the room but it still says 'guest_null'. I have MSN server and have access to 10 different nics and all that works right now is the GuardDog 4.0 nic. If I delete GuardDog 4.0, then all my nics are able to get into the chat rooms, but the Chat Control still isn't in my Downlaoadable Program files.

I'm going to be gone for a little over a week and if you all think of anything else that I might try, I would greatly appreciate it. If not , I'll have to go back to the GuardDog 3.6....which I don't want to do......:'( .

I have XP Home version.

Thank you all for your help and GBU.

I really cannot think of anything else, when i have that problem, i either reg the chat ocx or remove it. Maybe Gk can help

maybe you should ask MSN why it keeps giving you the guest_null problem. but anyways i just use GuarDDog to chat through, gives you more control then MSN does, and it looks alot like MSN does.

Techgear also has a download for the Guest Null Fix woot_jump.gif
All that does is register the appropriate ocx right? i think he's already tried that

it would be a lot easier if we knew how the guest problem occured. If it constantly occurs, just do what i do, use GuarDDog to chat with, very easy to follow chat, and its just as effective.

set a timer to reg normal ocx 5 seconds after the script is started , this will stop the problems

My code does NOT have bugs. It just develops random features.

Also, if you use the Guest_null fix, when you try to go into msnchat it will download the appropriate msnchat control for you. Once this is done you will need to close internet explorer, and then reopen it. Once you've done this the Guest_null problem should be fixed.

Hey All,

I'm back from vacation and I want to thank all of you for responding to my inquiry.

I d/l the Techgear guest_null program that Much had suggested and now I have the Chat Control in my C:\Windows\Programable Files....It was not registered in there before the d/l. Now I don't get Guest_Null. smile.gif

Thank you Gatekeeper, Absobx_0, Much, Warrior124 and Ozzy_10 for all of your help.

Now I can use the New GuardDog smile.gif.

God Bless You all.....
