LOOL to be able to avoid bans :P specially ip one

That wouldnt even be a good idea. If you take getting banned on MSN seriously, you need to get off of MSN.

i did suggest it cuz i couldn do it

isn this a reason 4 suggestin it ?! :^)

So much for avoiding the ruckus...I guess you're right...If I want them out I ought to be woman enough to own up to it....thanks :pizza:

That wasnt directed at you Kitty, was directed at people that want proxies in a connection.

I understood that...I was complimenting you on your integrity.

yea i know the point that ozzy has. I personally only use silent kick to tick off my friends, not really to get rid of someone. But yea i do it out of fun, not to disrupt the room.

LOL @ the hurry up and release.

As an opinion, silent bans seem like over kill. It would most likely create more havoc as MSN will modify again to try and stop it from happening in sub rooms. I have been booted a time or two by someone running a bot, most times they displace your passport. Makes for more fun then an individual should have...

<sarcastic face>

I think that most of us that are far less advanced to create our own connections want is simply a stable, solid, and dependable connection.

I was having some good fotrune with VRUpdate Multi-Con. Had my personal mIRC back in my groups, and was pleased that it got along great with the Guard Dog I was running as well.

Then once again *poof*. The connection updates, and then tells me that it can't create the room... <wo0t>

I am only one person, and as X-Fusion says, I am the ultimate n00b, I think solidity is the biggest want.

Thanks in advance Gate Keeper.

Well DogCollar (GD version) already has ability to create rooms, so i'm not sure if you were refering to that going *poof* or something else.

But yea, that is what i want as well, DogCollar seems to be reasonably stable, it can handle most things you throw at it. At present i'm just implimenting a few helpful small aliases to make it easier for you to use. Like $dc.fullnick(<channel>,<nickname>).decode, where you get the full name of the user (even if it's beyond the 50 character mIRC limit, and the property, .decode, is optional, if specified, it will be passed through $dc.decode before you receive it, if you don't use it, you get the raw format of it. So yea, this is one advantage you'll have over other conns, ability to support longer nicks, and yes, using $nick in normal things like /msg $nick, will still work even if the nickname is longer than 50 because DogCollar auto converts for you in those events.

gk the reason we were against the silent kicks is cause the only way to remove someone from a room is to flood them out and this gets abused by idiots who would download your script just to go round rooms and diss ppl, as it is possible to do the same without a hammer and diss the owners/hosts etc or even all the room

Pardon what might seem to be a stupid question....but if you have problems with someone can't you put them on "Deny" in the access list and accomplish the same thing? I dont spend a lot of time on IRC anymore, but in MSN chat if they are denied they never get back into the room, which amounts to the same thing.

Thats what a silent ban is. It's an deny without a kick. Sometimes you can add a disconnect feature if they're on webchat.

Hiya GTK,

I think im correct in saying that currently its not possible to use the DogCollar with non-subs in MSN chat rooms, given your reasons for that, is it possible to have a key to unlock the ability to use it with non-subs, it could be done via the auto updater so the user never sees it.

Not being able to use non-subs does greatly tie my hands in using GD and at times i have to use another script, which i would prefer not to do.

Thanks.

Seeing as how that goes against the MSN COC, that most likely will not be put into DogCollar.

hmm, i'm still not "for" putting it in, because i personally have encountered the same problem, but i have learnt to adjust by asking others to come help me beta test things, i guess the difference is that i can ask, and people will come, because they want to see what i'm trying, they might for you.

But yea, i'm not to sure if people want non-subs working in the connection, sure you could use it, but it's a lot more dangerous as you can't do anything to a non-sub except for kick, even though they can get a hammer, which i personally don't agree on. So try a better arguement. I'm like the legal system, if you don't present a good arguement, i throw it out :P

I have a question kind sir...if someone with guard dog who is not opped comes into a room with guard dog as the protection for said room...what kind of damage can they actually do if any? <wo0t>

I've been beta testing david's standalone DogCollar connection for the past few hours. All I can say is wow. It has renewed my interest in scripting ( at least for now ). Very easy to add to. I added a few prots to it and tested and all went well. The dc.fullnick room, nick works great with my flood prot. One thing I added to mine and didn't see in what you gave me david is ud1 check. Just a minor thing. Overall great job. Can't wait to see it's public release. I look forward to what our users do with it.

yea, that was one thing i did miss, i want to be able to do it without the registry.dll though, because i want to try and avoid using to many dlls.

I'm like the legal system, if you don't present a good arguement, i throw it out :P

OK :D

I would assume most users of GD are owners of rooms where its just them by themselves or with 1 or maybe 2 others helping to hold the room open. I would also assume that most would only have one paid up account.

Recently i wanted to test the clone detect in GD, i cant test it in MSN rooms, if i join the room in the one paid account i have, i cant come in as clones using GD to test it because i cant use non-subs, all i need to do is join with a nick that GD already knows about, it doesnt have to be able to do anything. It would be nice to be able to join as a non-sub, as the owner in GD, then come in with my paid account as clones, but this again isnt possible, and without the support of other people, which some users dont have the luxury of, we arent able to run tests in GD only, and if i want to test in the MSN rooms im forced to use one of the other scripts out there that will join as non-sub. :D

My opening comments your honour ;):P
