I had decided to abandon the ClearMSN project unless version 5 was successful, and I think it has been successful, so now I plan to continue working on it. So in this thread I will keep everyone up to speed on improvements I'm putting in, so you can comment on them or make other suggestions, and hopefully the next release will be even more successful.

To start with:

This little dialog allows the user to easily pick a passport and nickname to use in any room, including Subscription rooms.

Also, all rooms will now be opened in a separate server connection, even Subscription rooms, and the server windows will all be hidden, except for the primary server window.

Are you going to fix the webchat problem?

well you lallready know my suggestion

make the socks etc same as vincula , so people can change over easy

My code does NOT have bugs. It just develops random features.

enlarged control panel so it's not as cramped, added 'hide status windows' option.

also:

-improved ClearMSN theme

-unblocked most of the raws that ClearMSN was hiding from other scripts

-fixed 'dynamic limit'

-improved join stability

-added vincula aliases to improve compatibility (still working on renaming sockets)

-fixed error that caused clearmsn to disconnect for no good reason

MDX the dialog Vex. tongue.gif

Hmm, I think the dialogs look substantially better than the previous versions. I have to agree with Fusion though, why not make them treeview dialogs? then it shall look even better and indeed professional

my main reason for not using mdx (yes ive considered it) is because it's still just a connection, and yeah it's big but i want to keep the size reasonable

the control pannel looks really good now, except for the last time, i think you could group it alittle more then having them all floating around. I however agree with you vex, it is only a connection so making it with mdx and all that is not really a wise move if your not going to put alot in. if you gonna keep it so that the tabs done go to a scrollable tab, then don't use mdx, but if your thinking of putting more in, then i would say use tree view.

Yeah, I suppose you're right, but i've used a connection before called vMSN (Visual-MSN) by Slick which was unreleased anyways it had a treeview main dialog which looked really good. I think yours will too, you should just do what David did with GD v.4.0, just add everything into the main dialog..

If i turn my back im defenseless, but to go blindly seems senseless

just keeping you all updated on the improvements that i'm making before the next release

* fixed the font stuff: displaying wrong colors, not saving styles properly, and it will be able to list all the fonts on your computer, like vinc does. also, you can turn off the font formatting, so you can let your scripts do that without interfering with cmsn.

* now reconnects when your channel connection is lost, or when your lookup connections are lost.

* now has the option to rejoin a room when you're kicked

* encodes outgoing nicknames, with no mistakes.

* /sockwrite commands can now be used with no special channel or nickname identifiers (/sockwrite -n <socket> $chan kick $nick :blah). vincula socket names still work.

* you no longer have to save a nickname for a group if you want to create the room. group room creation is now automatic (pointless to have an option everyone just leaves turned on anyway). also, the groups/userroles dialog has been fused with the Passport Editor dialog to make clearmsn easier to use.

* option to close the room list dialog when you join a room.

* automatic passport update/lookup connection on start

* popup menus always displayed

* turn off the dialog that asks for your nickname every time you join

more suggestions?

can you make it cook me a burger too please

My code does NOT have bugs. It just develops random features.

Just a couple of small things:

1) on the clearMSN join a room dialog, the cancel and okay buttons are reversed as compared to the rest of your dialog cancel and okay buttons..and out of habbit, I keep hitting the 'cancel' button.. Could you reverse those so they are the same as your other dialogs? and all consistant.

2) when I create a room with clearmsn and join with my browser nick, which is very similar..and I leave with browser nick..it also closes the clearmsn room window.

This was on 5.2 haven't tested 5.2a yet.

Gwen

ps..I'm still confused as to how to code for clearmsn

if ($nick !isop $chan) does not work in it

if ($mi !isop $chan) does not work..

I've tried to use all the postive's but sometimes I just have to use the !

wondering why it won't work with clear 5.2

Thanks,

Gwen

1.) yes i'll switch those buttons.

2.) you simply cannot use any nickname whose decoded form is exactly the same as any of your other nicknames' decoded forms. this confuses clearmsn and is a bad idea. this means if you have an encoded nickname that appears like "nickname" .. you cannot use any other nickname that appears as "nickname." Use something different, like "n1ckname" or some such. Since it's easy to join with a different nickname in cmsn, that shouldn't be too hard. ClearMSN Phase2 (the re-written version) will eliminate this problem, but it would take a rewrite to get the current ClearMSN to do away with it so I'm not going to.

3.) those if statements work fine in clearmsn, i use them and i have absolutely no problem. i don't know of anyone else who has any problem with them. I don't know what to tell you about them, because I can't reproduce the error, so I can't "fix" it.

okay smile.gif ty, and I'll take out everything except for clearmsn and a test.txt and see if the !isop will work then.

Thanks smile.gif

Developments: ClearMSN 5.4

There will be a ton of improvements in ClearMSN (besides bugfixes) when 5.4 is released... Some of these are:

* Switch Passports as easily as nicknames (like the /clone command)

* Never touch the 'Update Passport' command if you don't want to

* Turn off built-in font formatting so your other scripts can handle it

* MTS Theme compatibility

* $me identifier works with your encoded nicknames

and more... release will be as soon as possible, i know a lot of people are waiting for it and i'm working as hard as i can to get it out.

** Also for 5.4, I have pretty much finished an addon that will be available, a statusbar/nicklist script, which works nice. (no icons in nicklist, tho. o well)

smile.gif Sounds excellent vex! Especially the $me compatibility with encoded $nicks!!

lolol didn't I say something about if you added that into clearmsn, that I'd stop updating vincula EZR?? ....[take your time on release, I'd like to put out one more EZR with a few extra additions] smile.gif

Gods Love on you and ty for all your great work,

Gwen

ClearMSN's all new theme, inspired by an MTS theme called 'cynatic'..
